There is an argument that Hollywood likes to repeat in movies: some characters have a normal life until an event threats to destroy it (usually a rich competitor or a corporation) and they need to get an amount of money or to finish a challenge in a short lapse of time in order to survive. I write it as a way to apologize for the time since my last publication. Certainly I had loved to come back but in a rather unfortunate succession of events my life seemed to turn into that Hollywood argument.
In my previous post a life and months ago I talked about a robbery. I decided to sacrifice a part of my life in order to recover and replace the stolen objects, I got committed in an architectural office that was offered to me, it meant to stop to travel and work less in design and more in the legal side. With the work I got a credit line and used it responsibly to equip the office, also invested on my education getting software, books, education and in last place the tools to work, not the most expensive, in some cases they are second-hand or quite old. The problem was that disorganized place. They were used to charge me with responsibilities but not so fast to comply theirs, my savings and emergency resources ran out and it was clear that I needed to leave that office in the building I designed, calculated and even helped to build with my hands (this is an isometric, a technical perspective):
And that was all. These months my life is just getting a lot of work to try to pay the debts. In the road I simply had to leave so many aspects of my life, including the blogs but tried my best to be able to do it. In some days (two weeks perhaps) my only way food was water from the public service. I don’t write it to impress, is just the way sometimes life happens, we all have problems and is a fortune that it’s just a money related inconvenience. I missed to visit the friends, and I am doing my best to be here with you. My problems are far to have a near end so I thought it was a good moment to give an explanation. I just simply cannot be here, I am reposting some photos into Instagram, but all of them you have already seen them, I do it as a way to get a piece of relax and distraction, I cannot do the same here as WordPress requires more attention.
About my travels I think every place is a place to discover, so even if we don’t take a bus we are already traveling. So I am recording and learning to use the cameras I got:

With a cell phone Sharp SH-06d.
I got a cell phone from 2012, the camera has eight megapixels, I use VSCO to edit them. It has not the resolution of a modern cell phone but I take the care to shot carefully as I think it’s fantastic to have a device at color, in the eighties in my city color film was not able to be processed so my childhood memories are in black and white.

Unicorn for Pan
Is important to me to draw, always. So I drew this unicorn for a friend. I did it in computer with a stylus as a pen.

With a Sigma DP2 camera.
My digital camera was a Sony R1. I had the doubt about purchase it again, I don’t buy again what I lost as I feel like I were using an intruder, besides every time is harder to get programs able to work with its files and batteries. In its place I got a Sigma DP2, it is a very little camera with 4 megapixels. I would loved a Samsung NX500 instead but it’s fine, any modern camera can help us to don’t forget the world we see (although these little camera seems to have inside a leprechaun stubborn in drive me nuts xP)

With a film camera Canon Eos 7 and Yongnuo 50mm f1.8 lens.
On Black Friday there were big discounts and I got a SLR, I chose a Canon Eos 7 (Elan 7e in US and Eos 33V in Europe) because it was cheaper, silent, lighter and more modern than the stolen Canon EF (the Black beauty) It’s not more handsome but has amazing controls, it’s wonderful to shot with it and so silent that seems it doesn’t use rolls. I considered to get it just because with another big discount I got an already cheap Yongnuo lens.

Shot with a film compact camera Samsung ECX-1.
The Samsung film camera is a bit ugly, so much that the robbers left it. It’s the example that devices with a lot of specifications don’t mean that are funny to use. I hope with time get nice photographs with it, in this moment the number of buttons you need to press in order to take the photograph distracts me to just see and record.
So that’s all. Happy to see you again in your blogs. I ask your compression (in case you are still there xD) about my reasons to not be able to be here. If I come back to post time will tell. A smile from far away. : )
I am VERY happy to see you back on your blog, Francis, with your original way to look at things ! A big welcome back ! Gilles
Merci beaucoup, Gilles. It’s more a “hi” than a come back. Hoping you have a good day, Gilles. : )
Back home after two months in Toulouse. It feels good ! Many thanks, Francis, and have a great day.
Welcome back Francis! AND what a lovely post!
Thank you, dear Landa. :3
que je suis contente de te relire, francis! i’m so happy! ton dessin de licorne me plaît beaucoup! bravo pour tout!
Merci beaucoup pour tes doux mots, chère malyloup. nwn
Glad you’re back Francis as I enjoy reading your posts.
Sorry you’ve had a rough time but remember, things can always be worse and now you’re on the way up. :-)
To be honest I am still struggling, so I needed to leave at least this message. I know, things can get worse, I am fighting to avoid that. Thank you very much for your encouragement. : )
Sorry to hear that and it’s pretty awful when we reach our lowest point in life – I think most of us have been there at some point. But you need to know that it’s not for long as life really is too short and we can’t keep dwelling in this state of mind – we’ll miss too much of life. :-)
Yes, that’s truth. n_n
It made me happy in my morning to see your post, Francis, your words and the lovely photos in the Reader… it’s very nice to see you here again. : )
Thank you, dear Nicole. I had forgotten that my nights here are your mornings there. n_n
Lovely to see your unique pictures again, even if it is only a brief visit. So sorry to hear of your bad times, and I hope things are getting better.
I hope that as well, I’ll continue working for that. Thank you, fragglerocking. : )
I am glad to have a Hi from you Francis, I hope you can say hello more often. Those images are really great, I am impressed with what you can do with what you call not great cameras. How does the Canon Eos 1200 compare with eos 7 ? Great drawing too, thank you :)
Thank you for the kindness, Sylvie. : ) Of course the camera doesn’t matter so much in this age any camera is enough, the requirements of more advanced cameras are more for professionals to shoot sports for example. The eos 7 is a film camera, that uses the old negative rolls, the Canon EOs 1200 is a digital camera and as such I am sure this is a far more advanced camera, much more convenient and capable of taking photographs able to be print in galleries. Thank you for your visit, Sylvie. n_n
Thank you for this Francis. If it is not the camera, it has to be your talent :)
😊
What great post! I wish you all the best!
Thank you, Cecilia. I am glad you liked it. c:

Welcome Back! So happy to see you post again!
This is my first visit to your site, but I am encouraged by your insights and perseverance in the face of these challenges.
Thank you, Lucy for your words. And sorry for the belated time. I think the encouragement is easier when we know we aren’t alone. : )
What a sweet hello from such a lovely soul! My heart aches for your troubles, and I send my best thoughts to you, Francis. I loved seeing the photos (such a wonderful cat!) and your amazing unicorn drawing is magnificent. Please stop and post whenever you can! xo

Welcome back! May your Autumn bring you better luck!
Thank you, Kim. I am sorry for being so late… Truth be told things sometimes get even more complicated. Now here is Spring. Wishing you a nice Autumn. : )
There are some bumps in life sometimes but I hope the road will get smoother for you. I hope you will be able to come back more often.

Great post Francis!!
Thank you, Sam. Cheers. : )
Dear Francis…
Long time, no see.
So glad to find you here today.
And to see that your soul is still finding its way home.
Dear, Caroline, I am sorry for not being here before, and happy for your thoughts. I hope everything is fine there for you and your loved ones. I hope you had a wonderful Summer, if I am not wrong your favorite season. : )
Hello Francis! I just want to know if you’re okay?
Dan! sorry for everything… Actually I am a bit tired trying to come back, but I have to continue the work I am afraid, but I am not quiting to fight so I am well. I hope you are doing well.
Finally, after a long time, a sign of life! It’s one of the most beautiful surprises I’ve ever had in the blogosphere! I feel like it’s hard there, and that it makes me sad! But I’m glad you have the strength to fight for a better destiny. The Gods of the Andes Mountains have given you powerful weapons for this fight! I would like that you remember me from time to time! : D
I will make sacrifices to Gods of Andes, Alpes, Himalayas and just in case to the gods of the video game Gods of War to be able to get a less stressful life xD Of course I always remember you, Dan. Seeing your blog I bet there is a lot of work in your life. I hope everything is well with you and your loved ones in the distant Romania… Best wishes from Peru and a big thank you Dan : )
I’m rooting for you, my friend. Be well.
James, thank you for the solidarity. At least I will be able to check your side of the world.
Hope that the worst is over, and life is on an upward trajectory…
I hope so as well. Well, the important is not not quit fighting. Thank you, Anita. ^_^/
Oh I missed this post Francis since I was not online from March to June. I only had energy to post something, but I didn’t visit anyone and didn’t reply to comments. Only in September I got back on my tracks, but still I owe a visit to many bloggers. I hope the things started getting better for you since it is already October and this post was written in April. Be good!
I remember, Inese, and I am grateful for your visit. it was nice to see your travels. I am working for that, to get things better. Be good, Inese, although I cannot be here much I am always thinking in you : )
Thank you Francis! I will keep an eye on your blog in case you decide to write more posts :) Best of luck with your job and hope everything gets straightened up.
Things can get tough sometimes. But generally if you stick to your plans, you become the best at it!☺️ You’re doing good and it will get even better!☺️
Yes, I really agree and I am fighting for it. Thank you, Mithai for the inspiration with the life you have chose. Best wishes from Peru. ^_^
Hi Francis thank you so much for your encouragement! We all are fighting for it.😊 Everyone who fights it out is an inspiration for me. Wishing you a very merry Christmas dear friend!☺️
Nice…
Thank you, Aman.
You are welcome…:-)
and you can visit my blog too…;-)
As my ‘like’ disappeared I checked the comments and found that I have been here already. I hope things started to straighten up for you by now. I am wishing you a great 365 days, happy and fulfilling. Everything will work out for you!
Thank you, dear Inese. : ) WordPress has some bugs occasionally, but more than likes I appreciate the visit… I am sorry for the lapsed time, it is a bit hard to me to come but it is nice to see you here and for me too see your chronicles n_n
No worries, Francis. I am seldom online these days.
I have heard that Flickr changed hands? It usually means no good.
Thank you, Inese. Yes, it changed hands but it seems ages since I uploaded photos to there. In any case it seems there is no change so far. : )
So we will wait :)
I enjoyed your images and thoughts in this post, Francis. (I thought I had commented prior to this but here I am!) Hope you get back to blogging to share your work. Wishing you a happy 2018!
Thank you very much for your visit, Jane. I hope so as well, meanwhile I am very happy to see your world, specially San Francisco that is one of those few cities that is half in our world and half in our dreams. A hug and a smile from the Peruvian summer. n_n/
It’s been so long, Francis. I hope you’re well.
Thanks for coming by my virtual home the way you do. Your visits never go unnoticed.
Take care, my friend. May the gentlest winds blow over you.
Thank you, Caroline, I try to go whenever I can;, reading you and seeing your photographs to me is like a personal cloister of a peaceful place outside the rest. There is a line in “La belle obéissance” that somehow to me express what I sense “et là encore, j’écris dans ce bruissement qui m’apaise”, and your gentlest wind would be “un parfait vent d’août¨
I hope the warm days are giving joy to you and your dear ones, Caroline. Greetings from the other side of the world ^-^
Denmark – Peru 1-0
Ohhhh my God … what an injustice! After so much absence from the World Cup, the Peruvian team made a superb match, but lost in an incredible way! Dear Francis, the Peruvian do not have a God of luck?! Where was he, today?! You team have conquered the sympathy of all football lovers, but it will be very difficult to qualify in the next phase … France is much stronger than Denmark and will increase its level of play! I’m really sad about what happened in this game … someone has to wake up the Peruvian God of luck … the World Cup has begun and needs it!
Until today I sympathize with the Peruvian team because of you, but today Peruvian players have won my respect for the show and the emotions offered!
Dan! Thank you for writing. I am glad for it and at the same time quite sorry for my long time not in touch. To say the truth I couldn’t even see the World Cup and not even a Peruvian match x_x Peru has not no luck, what it has in football is a psychological block… they always have chances to make goal but they kick to other side or just they get frightened playing in the middle of the field. The classification was pure luck as it depended mostly of the sheer luck of mathematics due to the scores of other teams. The Peruvian team has good players and at least they have the confidence to know that (after three decades) they are able to classify.
I hope you are doing well dear friend. I am really sorry to have not been around. My efforts to be able to get the due monthly payments are just sucking my life for other things, just only could have a responsible spare time. Take care, Dan.
Bon jour,
Je découvre un blog, une personnalité …
Bienvenue parmi la blogsphère. :)
Max-Louis
Je vous remercie pour vos aimables paroles, Max-Louis. Salutations du Pérou. Francis ^_^
Salutations de Nantes :)
I salute you, Francis … I hope you’re well … I am writing to tell you, that I was delighted by the evolution of the Peruvian team at Copa America … I watched all matches even if some were late at night!
Of course, Peru was my favorite and made me a pleasant surprise! Victory with Chile was gorgeous (With Uruguay it was fight and fortune)! In my opinion, the team’s strength is in the side bands, where Trauco and Advincula are valuable players (even though the first goal in the final with Brazil, was due to their cause)! The biggest surprise for me, was that I saw a goal scored by Flores, which is my sympathy from Peru team! He is a player who usually misses goals (in Romanian it’s said “ratangiu”)! I did not think that I would see him, marking a goal in a final tournament, in this life! :D
Salut, Dan! Nice to see you. In first place my apologies for not being here :S I am in a period a bit demanding, I could not even get to see the coup. I am happy you could see it and amazed by the detail of your knowledge. hehe the players that fail scores are pretty common in Peru, is like a syndrome. The most famous the more probable are them to fail xD This team has been mentally stronger though, what has been a happiness because we don’t ask them to win (of course that always is fantastic) but just to play the best their capabilities and so far they were doing that.
Greetings from far away, Dan. I’ll take advantage to see your side of the world :D
Welcome back and best wishes for the good luck you deserve!
Thanks for the kindness, Denise. Rather than a come back is a visit before going back to work. Best wishes from far away to you. ^_^
I enjoyed your images. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you, Lane. I am happy you liked them : )
Strange – I came back, too. How long were you absent, Francis?
I like the “Unicorn for Pan” and the light bulb very much :-)
Stay healthy, stay strong, Ulli
Thanks very much, Ulli. I have a bad perception of elapsed time, but certainly happy to have seen your posts. Stay healthy, Ulli : D
However Francis, I’m glad that we both are here again. If there is anything I can do for you let me know. And: stay healthy!
Ulli
Your images and thoughts are close to me. I wish you the best!
Thank you! : )
Wished you’d get back to posting more images, the ones above are so creative.
Thank you very much for your words. I enjoyed a lot your way to see Machu Picchu, in a certain way it was what I would show too; I read the comments too . A time will come for coming back, still I have a couple of challenges here in my life that deprive me to be fully back to write, but I am sure they will pass. Greetings from this part of the world I am glad to know you knew ^^, for now it is closed even for us locals.
Wishing you well, Francis ~ the one thing life never gets tired of, and that is giving us challenges. Best to you, my friend. Take care.
Miss your posts and photos.
I miss them too, I think circumstances and bad choices had taken a hard hit in my goal to come back :l
😟
Great post! I love the unicorn
Thanks for the visit ^^
I too have been away a couple years. I hope you are doing well. I enjoy your work.
Working harder to be in the same place, but bit by bit I am better, I am happy to see you, Kim. Regards from our vanishing summer ^^
Francis, I still wonder if you could apply for a … scholarship..a bit of money from the rich people who run the competition..for ArtPrize 21.
The rich people who run this claim it is international. I would like to see them buy a ticket and a place to stay for someone like you. I could show you West Michigan and take you sailing..on water.
https://www.artprize.org/for-artists/details#artists-2021-artist-grants
I am moved by your gesture, Kim. I have read their guidelines and certainly the original and amazing work of the awarded winners. I am afraid my work is manual, not many chances to practice art, to reply in all honesty. Thank you, Kim.
What kind of thing would they like? You are an architect..they might like giving you money to build an example of a small home for poor people, indigenous people, whatever it is you do.
Peru is a poor country and architecture is a luxury, I am afraid universities deceives us thinking there is a market, I work hard but I am trying to move to commerce. I actually help poor people (which are white, indigenous, black, mixed, et cetera) to get nice homes : ) I have almost replaced all things I lost, and starting to save again, many people around me is in dire situation so I am grateful for that. In this moment my treasure is your good thoughts towards me. Seeing you are better brought me much happiness.
But…how to say this..rich white followers of art in the USA, people who run this ‘contest’ Artprize may be interested in how you help the poor. YOU design a house for the poor of West Michigan, figure out what the costs will be, provide that info, design, costs, anything else, to the committee that grants money. IF they like your idea, IF they like it, they will give you money to come here, buy materials and build a house, a house that others will vote on as an art installation. It’s a long shot. I liked the design of one of your earlier homes.
The big popular thing in the USA right now is designing homes out of shipping containers.
I will work in it, Kim. I really like to help people so, according to the idea you are telling me as reference, I know I can propose something nice with my particular knowledge and experiences.
The group I think may be interested in your work is Site:Lab. They are a separate entity from ArtPrize but they won once. They rework urban areas for all.
They choose a different theme each year or so. One year they worked with handicapped. I was the one who brought the idea of handicapped to them as I was volunteering/working for them and using a wheelchair at the time.
I enjoy your work with photography, your artistic eye and appreciation for your home, your ability to share that world.
I am curious about your building of affordable homes with local materials. Site:Lab, depending on their current project, may also be interested.
http://www.sitelaburbanstudio.com/
These are two separate entities that in non-Covid years sometimes come together.
But..it is a long shot..a mere chance to get the money to come here to build something. Sleep/dream on it.
One more thought. I knew Site:Lab was going to expand beyond the city near me, Grand Rapids (also the city that is home to ArtPrize). I did not realize how far it has expanded. It is all over the USA now.
I have reviewed their resources and portfolio and indeed is amazing, they have even a global presence. Thank you, Kim. About my projects here is a bit complicated to get photographs, usually I am hired by cellphone, and then I send the architectural plans by email, they get a local builder and usually there are changes, so I don’t get to have many photos, although a lot of drawings. I am very happy the wheelchair is in the past, as I recall you mentioned it once. Wishing you that things continue to improve for the better, Kim, and assuring you I am studying the material you generously are sharing with as it implies time and thought.
I miss them too, I think circumstances and bad choices had taken a hard hit in my goal to come back :l
