Moquegua at afternoon

Moquegua at afternoon

I’m traveling again, now to my city in the highlands. I decided to don’t bring any camera with me to have a kind of rest and empty my mind… Said that my time in internet is quite scarce, I’m sorry if these days I cannot follow your blogs dear mates, in some days I’ll see you with the needed calm, I don’t believe in just click like buttons but to read and see with calm until understand..

The photograph is in the way to Moquegua city in the south, Did I say that I love flares? Well, I say it again :P

Camanchaca’s frontier

Peace in blue and sand

Camanchaca, the sea fog that covers from the Chilean North coast to the Peruvian South coast, is said that comes from the Aymara word for obscurity. Could be but I don’t find much sense in it, because sure it reduces the visibility but is far from be obscurity. The light is diffuse, not inexistent.

In the photograph the camanchaca is far away, seen in middle of the road that connects Moquegua city close to the highlands with Ilo city in the coast. I wonder if I could walk in the desert, even in winter it has to be a feat to me because I’m not used to the humidity; besides the desert with its vast surfaces is the ideal place for the Air Force so always there is the danger of military equipment there.

happy ending

Ilo city is in the south coast of the Peruvian deserts. Usually covered with the Kamanchaca (sea fog) in summer it’s an amazing place to go to the beaches. In the south of Peru Ilo beaches are in my opinion the most beautiful and always are hidden ones to discover. They are not the glamorous tropical beaches in the north of Peru, with palms and its armies of surfers, but are quite beautiful in its own right.

I went for a work, so I had just one afternoon to enjoy the beach, with a broken camera… The humidity damaged the mechanism and I just could to shoot it in manual; I liked so much that since then I’ve never used full automatic modes.

The yellow building is a bar with restaurants, bathrooms, and services. I think they have good taste because don’t impact negatively the beach and even from the sea they looks discret in the topography.

So I took off my clothes and went to the beach. As I was just alone I let my camera, after having taken a few vistas, and backpack with a kind lady working in the building. I was in the water for hours…

It’s the continuation from the travel across Moquegua. They are just a few vistas from the bus. The kamanchaca (sea fog) was behind and there was a sunny day in the Valley of Moquegua (the real name could be Mokehua or Mokihua).

This starts in Moquegua’s bus terminal.

Moquegua has a strange landscape. It seems like there would be a mystery in those hills.
